We started our day bright and early at 8am for breakfast and to prepare for our 3.5 hour hike to moganshan peak. The entire hike was uphill except for 45 minutes for which we ended at Chairman Mao’s summer retreat.
Moganshan is a bamboo forest and the story goes like this; approximately 1200 years ago there was a husband and wife who lived on the mountain, the wife was names Mo and this husband was named Gan, Shan is the Chinese word for mountain.
Both were sword makers, and an emporer ordered them to make him a sword, once it was finished he murdered them both so that no one else could have a sword like his. Mo and Gan had a son who went on to assassinate the emporer killing himself in the attempt.
After the hike we had lunch back at the hostel before heading 4 hours to Shanghai.
