We took a 20 hour train from Shanghai to Guilin, then a further 1.5 hour bus to Yangshuo.
We said farewell to the 12 others we had been travelling with since Hangzou and picked up one more Brit, Felicity. We actually departed from Shanghai a day early so we could have an extra day in Yangshou.
Yangshuo is very much rural China, while being a thriving tourist town it is surrounded by stunning karst peaks.
We are staying in Monkey Janes Hostel names after its owner who is rumoured to be in a mental hospital!
We began with brunch in local restaurant where they had a Jarvis in a bowl as the table centrepiece. We spent our free day exploring the area, mostly the markets before trying a fish pedicure.
