Where to Stay in Lake Bled, Slovenia

Travelling to this bucket list destination, your first Google search is likely to be "where to stay in Lake Bled". But what if I told you that glamping is one of the best options when staying in Lake Bled? This stay completely changed my expectations.

I visited Slovenia in springtime, so if you are visiting during a time of blissful sunshine and beautiful blue skies, this is the place for you. Glamping is not something I ever saw myself doing unless it was at Glastonbury, but the reviews for Lake Bled’s Garden Village were so positive that it was not somewhere we could ignore. It was probably the on site sauna that sold it to us, or maybe it was the fire pit. Either way, we took a leap of faith and here is how it paid off.

An Introduction to Garden Village Bled

Garden Village Bled continues to be one of the most unique places to stay in Lake Bled in 2026, especially for travellers looking for something different from a traditional hotel. Garden Village Bled is an entirely ecologically designed resort in the heart of Lake Bled, just 350 yards from the lake. While there are plenty of traditional Lake Bled hotels with lake views, Garden Village offers a completely different experience, combining nature, comfort and privacy in a way that feels much more immersive.

The resort is open from April to October and includes thoughtful extras such as a complimentary welcome drink, free use of bikes, free WiFi throughout the property and breakfast included in your stay.

Gather around the open fireplace at this Lake Bled hotel with a glass of red and a blanket at the end of the day.

Swim among the tadpoles at this Lake Bled hotel in the biotope or relax on the man made beach.

How about dipping your toes in the pond, or feeling the benefits of a waterfall massage? Take part in meditation, yoga or treat yourself to a massage or use of the sauna. Find out what on earth Kneipp therapy is, or have a tour around the apiary and greenhouse where they grow all of the fresh produce used in the restaurant. It doesn't matter whether you are staying in a luxury apartment, a treehouse or a glamping tent, the experience will be entirely positive.

The Tent

I use the term glamping loosely, since glamping implies you are still without some home comforts, and it never really felt that way here, despite the fact we were actually sleeping in a tent.

We stayed in one of the pier tents, which are among the most unique accommodation options in Lake Bled. It was suspended over a stream and connected by wooden walkways in the trees. The tent was accessed by a small drawbridge, with horses roaming freely in the field behind.

The tent came equipped with lockable luggage storage, a fridge, a safe, a heater and drinking water with glasses, plus towels and wash products. It also had electrics, fully fitted with sockets and lamps.

As someone who gets cold very easily, I never once felt a chill in the tent, and if the evening felt a little cooler, we simply used the heater which worked perfectly.

It also rained through the night a couple of times, but we were none the wiser.

If you prefer something more traditional, there are also apartment options on site.

Final Word

We genuinely struggled to find any faults with this place. From the service to the setting, everything exceeded expectations.

On arrival, we were invited to enjoy a complimentary snack and drink overlooking the biotope before being shown to our pier tent. When leaving, we were given a small jar of Slovenian honey as a parting gift.

The reception team were fantastic. Our travel adaptor stopped working during our stay, and they managed to find one for us to use completely free of charge.

So whatever you thought about glamping, this place will completely change your mind.

A peaceful night’s sleep listening to the trickle of a stream and the trees in the wind, it is pure magic.
