Travel more. Quit nothing.
I’m Charlie, a full-time Marketing Manager based in Bristol, UK, and the traveller behind The Millennial Runaway.
The idea for the blog began in 2013, after an internship and a period of travelling around China helped kickstart my career. I returned home determined to build that career, but my desire to travel did not disappear with it. Instead of choosing between the two, I began finding realistic ways to maintain both, making better use of annual leave, turning weekends into proper escapes and travelling for longer when remote work allowed.
That experience continues to shape everything I publish. For more than a decade, I have travelled alongside a full-time career, personally visiting the destinations and trying the experiences I write about. My guides are based on first-hand experience and my own photographs, with the practical details I would want before committing limited time or money. I share what was genuinely worthwhile, what fell short and what I would do differently rather than simply repeating promotional claims.
The Millennial Runaway is for people who still want meaningful travel without quitting their jobs, travelling indefinitely or sacrificing every comfort. It is about finding experiences worth using your annual leave for and making travel fit around the life and career you have worked to build.
Here, you will find:
- UK and international destination guides
- City breaks, road trips and day trips
- First-hand reviews of tours, attractions and travel experiences
- Food, festivals, hikes and places worth making the journey for
- Practical advice for making the most of limited time and realistic budgets
When I am not travelling or working in marketing, I spend much of my spare time reading fantasy novels, trying somewhere new to eat or planning my next trip.
When I am not travelling or working in marketing, I am usually trying somewhere new to eat, reading fantasy or planning my next trip. You can follow my travels on TikTok at @themrunaway and Instagram or contact me directly through the site’s Contact page.
